I'm pretty sure I've ran this one before (old timer's disease gets me sometimes). What are your favorite, most resourceful, elk hunting books? Not talking magazines here (although Bugle tops my magazine list for a multitude of reasons), but what are your definitive paperback or hard back guides on elk that you have by your bed side table? Just curious.

Elk Nuts Playbook is a the best imo.

Elk of North America Ecology and Management compiled and edited by Jack Ward Thomas and Dale Toweill. Both the 1982 and 2002 editions. Can't beat their science.

Yes sir, this is quite the book. If you can find one, it's certainly worth having. I also re-read Elknut's Playbook, and, John Erickson's Tree Stand Hunting Rocky Mountain Elk on a regular basis.

:yeah: Although the DVD wasn't as good as the book.

Not just Elk hunting but hunting in general, Meat Eater adventures from the life of an american hunter by Steven Rinella is a good book.

If you're interested in Montana, "Elk Hunting Montana" - Jack Ballard

this is a good one and I believe he just released an updated version of it in the last year. Still a big fan of Cam Hanes book Backcountry Bow hunting. A guide to the wild side.
