Title: elk hunting roads/gates
Post by: CoyoteCowboy on May 26, 2014, 09:47:04 AM
hey guys,

happy memorial day to you all.

anyone know where I can find what roads/gates are going to be open in gmu 340 and gnu 336 during archery elk?

also, I have heard that I should expect lots of "camps" set-up in that area. are the bulk of the camps set up at the closed gates? off of w taneum road? or is the camping a bit more discrete and remote? and how many camps we talking about?

thanks!

Check the Wenatchee Okanogan National Forest website for updates.  I think you can link the Wildlife Refuges, too.  Any spot off the main roads with a fire ring will be a camp site.  Not too discrete.  Since it can be very dry in September, look for elk near water.  Also they seem to move around at night a lot.

thank you hunterofelk;

if i find info on gates/road closures i will post to this discussion.

i already have a good idea where I will be hunting… just trying to figure out how I will be getting back in there. And trying to pattern the other hunters…  :)
