In the Naneum State Forest.....
The campfire tickets could have been a plenty over the Memorial weekend.
Leaving the area coming down Coleman Tuesday morning to come home no less than 5 fire pits still putting out smoke in varying degrees. 2 of which I stopped and spread out the leftovers and threw a little H2O on.
Makes one wonder how many others had fires this past weekend at the other camps not along the creek. With the crazy wind that blew the entire time it might be just a little luck that nothing got out of hand.
The first time in many years going over there for this weekend that I did not see a single DNR rig cruise by the entire time. :(

DNR has one uniformed LEO to cover the entire DNR SE region which covers all eastern WA counties except those along the canadian border and Spokane county. Also, there is a new DNR forest in Kittitas County (Teanaway) purchased last fall to add to the officer's huge patrol area. DNR is in the process of hiring for a new position created that will be based in Yakima, the other officer is based in Ellensburg. Some DNR non-LE employees do have limited ticket writing authority and drive the red trucks, DNR LEOs drive vehicles very similar looking to WDFW. Point is, when you have 12 DNR LEO positions statewide, consider yourself lucky if you ever do see one :twocents:
