I was just wondering how old do blacktail deer get before they die of old age? My guess would be about 10 years but to be honest I have no idea. What do you guys think?
-
I would guess 8 to 10,my wife shot a doe that was the oldest the biologist seen he took the head,he thought 13 to 15 yrs on that one
-
I believe 20 to 25 years is possible but probably isn't common. And probably a lot less common now with the abundance of cougars and hair loss disease.
-
I am thinking about 10-12 years

OK, I did a quick google search and for whitetails it says 19 to 20 years is possible but 4 to 5 years is typical. I would think blacktails wouldn't be any different than whitetail deer.

Mule deer are around 6-7, and blacktail are longer 8-9, especially if they have few predators to deal with.

Not very long if I still have a tag. :chuckle:

I have seen muleys listed up to 18YO on the YTC data collection site.
