Looking for a nice place to sit and enjoy the sun near Yakima. Fish for some trout while were at it. Don't know the area that well but will be over there this weekend with the fiance. Within an hour from Yakima/Selah is fine. Would Love some good scenery also. Thanks for any replies.
Or, if anybody has any better ideas to enjoy the weather and do something outside/outdoor related this weekend over there let me know.
Thanks,
-Joseph

Lots of cool places to get out and hike around yakima and back towards ellensburg. Never know, you might find some bone too if a few of the guys on here haven't found them all. :chuckle:

I've never fished the Yakima River but there are spots along I-82 where you can park and walk along the river to fish for trout. Throw some jigs for them though, one of the old timers told me he catches some nice sized trout throwing crappie jigs in the river, or if you flyfish you could do that too in some spots. There are a ton of ponds from Yakima to around Exit 52 to fish from. Myron Pond in Yakima holds some nice sized trout but it's selective gear only. People have been catching trout from Rotary Lake too, I haven't been there in two or three weeks though, I primarily go there for crappie. Then there's the I-82 ponds, I mostly fish ponds 4,5, and 7 for panfish so I'm not really sure about the others and how they do for trout on them.

Ended up driving up to lost lake. Lots of people so we drove over to rimrock. Tried fishing off some rocks but the wind was howling through there. Didn't stay long. So then we just drove around looking at the area. Seen some elk, and some mushroom pickers. Stopped at some ponds Down right off of Hwy 12, few people fishing. Didn't stay long there either because a couple crackheads came down in a van a decided to walk their kick-me dogs. One came over about 5 feet from me and decided to take a Sh*t. That pissed me off so we left. Was a good day though. Thanks for all who responded.
