Title: The free boat reloaded
Post by: irishevox on June 01, 2014, 08:05:25 PM
Yesterday I picked up a free boat even though I was told from the get go it was I'm rough shape.  When I started keep in mind it was bare alminum with blue interior. I took it any way here is how it turned out after I got it and took 5 hours painting etc...

I like it!  Are you going to build a blind or get one that's pre made?  How long is it?

raffia online is cheap in bundles. Get some green "garden fencing" from home depot 4x50 for 9.99. Cheap tarp, use conduit if you can.

For a blind, you can go to an Army Surplus and get camo netting. When you go out to the lake, get natural vegetation and add it to the netting. Did that with my boat and it worked pretty good.

I'll try and dig one up, but I don't have it anymore, so it might be a little difficult.

Thanks big Luke.  I also rubber coated the entire bottom.  I am going fishing this weekend to kind of test it out.

So, this weekend after testing it out.... it failed.   So what happened was initally was a rivet had popped out and the front had a small leak in the front.  So i packed it up and went back home.  I repaired all the leaks etc... and tested it again.  And it worked like a champ 110% flota tested and 110% good to go.  Spent all day on the lake fishing with it as i contemplate how i am going to do the rest of the boat blind.
I appreciate the good comments.   Thank ya'll.

no.   My wife and i are used to fishing in Louisiana where we grew up and here in Wa it's totally different, so we are learning how to fish the freshwater in Wa state.  She is 7 months prego so taking it easy but still getting out there.  any tips are more than welcome.  We are fishing by deception pass in cranberry lake

Looks great, not much you can't fix on those boats with rivets and JB Weld.
