Title: Baja Mexico
Post by: jager on June 17, 2014, 01:34:03 AM
Haven't posted in a while...

Sadly, my hunting has been eviscerated for the last two seasons...

Thought I'd share a few pics of my trip to Baja Mexico.

Foolishly I bought a bunch of surf fishing gear and tackle thinking I'd be into the roosterfish like mad...

I was a couple of weeks early  :(

I did meet some super nice and knowledgeable locals and was able to catch a ton of dorado. I brought about 40 lbs back home in the cooler.  :chuckle:

Beautiful , wild and unspoiled country...I'm afraid not too much longer though.

The sea of Cortez is an amazing place.

Met some great folks, had some amazing food and fished my butt off.
I was able to catch dorado, sierra and triggerfish.

I'll know a lot more for the next trip down..Tried to do alot of research on the internet...not a lot of info out there for the area i was travelling to.
I'm ready!!

Didn't bring the boat...was planning on surf fishing the whole time...

The local fisherman have "pangas" which are fiberglass, open hull boats about 22-28' long. The one i was in was really very nice, center console, big Honda outboard...nice

I bought the rolling cooler here, packed some of my items in it for the trip down, and filled it with frozen fish for the flight back.
The airlines wont allow ice, dry or otherwise.

Nice trip- I will be heading to Baja in Sep for Dorado, Marlin, Rosters and everything else.  Me and my buddy are fishing 7 days straight back to back.  Wives might get a little mad, but maybe with enough Margaritas, they'll be ok!!! :yike:
