So was on my way home today and saw these critters. they were about 4 or 5 miles north of hyw 26 along hwy 395 east of othello and just north of cunningham road. only about 50 yards off of the hwy. might have to zoom in as I only had my cell phone to take pics.

Nice!
sent from my typewriter

One moose said to the other as they headed west, "We outta wolf range yet...?"

I had a friend tell me she saw a moose outside nachese. Knowing her I called her bluff and said you are mistaken it was a elk. I think I posted about it. Anyway I called the bio and he did not seem suprised. :dunno:

That'd be news to me. It'd be cool though!

I spoke to an orchardist who said several years ago they put one down in Soap Lake. I thought it sounded strange at the time.
Two years ago I saw a large black bear chasing a cow moose in Cle Elum! I made my way down into the swamp I last saw them and started calling thinking I could get the bear to come in. Never saw the bear but the moose made it's way back to see what the terrible noise was all about. LOL

There have been more and more moose moving into the Palouse over the last 10 or so years. Now I see several each year along the Palouse River. I think they are following the North and South forks of the Palouse River out of Idaho. Maybe to escape wolf pressure or just expanding territory, but there is starting to be a pretty steady population of them along the Palouse River. The Palouse River is only 20-25 miles from where the OP spotted the moose. We've also started seeing more and more moose in the Blues. They are definitely widening their territory.

We saw a moose along Deadman Creek just before it hits the Snake River. (south side of the Snake)
-
I know they have seen moose South of Eagle Lakes before and that is a few mile South out of Othello. That was probably 3 - 5 years ago.

There was one swimming in the Snake near the Clarkston golf course the past week or so. Guys I work with saw one between Pomeroy and Lower Granite Dam about a month ago. Last week someone saw one between Pullman and Lower Granite. Two years ago we had one in Pomeroy until the crowd got to be too big and it decided to leave town.
-
My brother saw one right next to Manastash Lake this spring. It was a bull at close range too, so no doubt that it was actually a moose.
-
There was a Bull Moose in Waterville (Douglas Co) a couple years back. 100 degrees out and it was cruising across the open wheat fields.

I saw a handful very near Pullman during school. I can think of 4 that I saw within 10 miles of Pullman in Washington during my 4 years. I think there was at least one more but can't seem to place it.

A buddy of mine saw a cow and calf moose in the Entiat valley 2 years ago.
