Title: Volunteers needed! Help us get more WA Goat tags!!!

Myself and others have been working hard with WDFW and Rocky Mountain Goat Alliance (http://www.goatalliance.org/ (http://www.goatalliance.org/) - become a member if you're not already) to help increase tag numbers in Washington state. WDFW has actually been very responsive and seems to be craving organized volunteer help. Early indications are that the highest likelihood of new tags in the near future are in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and we have a volunteer goat count set up for the weekend of August 15-17. The biologist's we've been talking to say that with a good goat count, we may see additional tags (yes plural!) as early as next year!

If you want to help, please comment at the bottom of the page so we can get an early indication of how many people we are expecting and start figuring out organizational efforts. RMGA is already doing a ton for goat management in WA and other states throughout the west. Certainly of some people are more familiar with a certain area than others, that would be a major consideration.

There are a ton of goats up there. I was gonna comment about that and say that is an area that should have tags as well.

If you plan to make it to the event, the sooner you can fill out the form the better. They want to figure out logistics ahead of time.

Secondly, if you haven't done it yet, please sign up for RMGA. Your $35 annual fee makes an immediate difference in goat conservation across North America and specifically in Washington state with more goat tags in the near future! We are hoping to have even more projects like this and potentially even help fund surveys for WDFW so they can have more accurate population counts and more goat tags.

RMGA has a membership drive going right now and are giving away a Stone Glacier pack to the winner. Go to the website to sign up and you get entered once, become a life member and get entered twice, or refer friends and get entered 3 times. Remember, if you sign up, don't forget to say that I referred you!
