So I heard about these mythical Beaver Ponds off of the Old Belfair Highway. I was thinking of taking my 5 year old fishing tomorrow and these sound like they fit the bill. Easy to get to, easy to Fish... One question though, where the hell are they and where do I park. My buddy walked me in the ol fashioned way, (Left at the old gas station, clear cut on your right, 2nd large gravel turnout by the stump that looks like a cloud). But I am still having some difficulty grasping where to park and which trailhead to take. Any and all advice givers appreciated! Thanks!

Did you ever find the ponds I have also heard great stories of them but gave up trying to find them years ago. Just happen to come across this thread.
Thanks

Are you talking about the mythical beaver ponds that have 5 lbs bass in them? I remember hearing about them when I was young in the 90's, never did find them. I was thinking the ones my friend and I walked into a couple years ago might have been the ones they talked about, is it the two ponds that were at an old youth campground or something? I forgot the name of those ponds but it was posted in the newspaper or something and we went back there.
Or are you talking about the beaver ponds with cutthroat in them? Those can be fun to catch and release, funny since people walk by saying "there's fish in that?!" Rather than myself and a friend I've only seen one other guy fish it because other people are just hiking the trails.

I remember finding numerous beaver ponds a few miles from the old Belfair rd. There were roads that zig zagged all through that area up to hood canal. I think the main one was dewatto lane ?, but a side road that had a strange name like from a movie had the most. The ponds were all over but houses were being built and bus stop signs were going in, so kind of figured it might be too crowded to have me crawling all around that area.

There's quite a few beaver ponds in the area, some legal some not so legal.
Google earth them.
