Just back from the NTA Western. Had a great time! I took in a few demos but mostly I spent my time visiting with people.
I saw David Kulas demo. I was wondering who he was and then when I saw him, instant recognition. I'm terrible with names but I can remember a face. It was an Ok demo but to tell the truth it was hard to stretch to an hour.
I watched Bill Ilchick and Joel Blackeslee do a demo on Nevada cat trapping, topnotch!
On Sunday most people had already left when Carl Berg gave a demo on beaver and otter trapping. I have been wanting to meet Carl for some time and got a chance to talk with him. Nice guy and very modest. Carl is arguably the best water trapper in the west and would be in the running for best, period. Regularly takes in excess of 500 beaver and otter? well his best day on otter is 15. Nuff said!

Anyway a great time and a chance to rub shoulders with trappers from across the west.

Here's an article about it.     http://www.bluemountaineagle.com/Outdoors/20140701/trappers-catch-regional-expo-in-john-day#.U7OklnLn8aI (http://www.bluemountaineagle.com/Outdoors/20140701/trappers-catch-regional-expo-in-john-day#.U7OklnLn8aI)

Great report, wish I was out there.  I went to the PA Convention last week and had a blast.  Got to rub elbows with Mr. Dobbins, Mr. Leggett and Mr. Florin and took in several demos.  One of the guys who lives pretty close to me here in Virginia won the World Coyote Trapping Championship last year, Daryl Schwarz, super nice guy.  The Virginia Trapper's Convention is not as big as the PA Convention but it will be next week.  Looking forward to going.
