Title: Drawn for Quality elk
Post by: Terry Dean on July 02, 2014, 08:45:34 PM
Hello I got drawn for quality elk in Rimrock this year. I have a friend who is going to help bugle.. he states their is no reason for saltlicks or any bait. Im kind of worried that our season is so early that they wont be talking yet. Anyone got any tips?

Archery? If not then your fine, hunt hard and you will get a bull, if archery then you need some luck on your side. Nothing is guaranteed with a bow!

If it's archery weather can be a pain! If it's hot they won't talk much during the day. I have spent some time over their and it's a tag you will have to work hard to punch.

I think the last few days will be the best, you may not hear much bugling if any at all the first week. Also, going to have to get away from the roads and that's where the elk will be, lots of general season hunters.

Hot can be good. Find the cool drainages and you will find elk. They like to be cool. Good luck
