Title: Nud "e" Shots
Post by: boneaddict on July 03, 2014, 07:22:34 AM: Managed to find and photograph a couple different species of nudibranchs while backpacking on the coast this last week.

One of my favorites, a Lion's Mane (or hooded) nudi. They are transparent, you can see all their innards. This one is filter feeding, his "mane" is open to catch food...

This one is a nudi who's diet consists solely of other nudibranchs. It's about the size of a whole banana.

Simple point-and-shoot with an underwater housing, that's it. No strobes or fancy lenses or anything. Also, I don't use photoshop or anything, I just crop them and leave them as is. It makes them more realistic to me.

Pre digital days for me, so really no pics. They were awesome. Have to be careful as most starve to death if they eat all of their confined food. I used them to control a nusance anemone called Aiptasia. I'll try to get my other ones up today. 4 species in one tidal area. I was jacked! Kids loved them.
