Title: Sockeye and kings below wanapum
Post by: Prohunter270 on July 03, 2014, 07:03:12 PM
I need help on my set up for sockeye! I've never fished them and have no clue what to use. I have a jet sled with riggers, please any info on setups would be helpful for me and my son.

Simple.  Small dodger of your choice. Chrome with prism works well.    Bead chain and 10" of 20 lb floro leader to 2 #2 hooks spaced 1.5" apart. On the front hook slide over a small macks pink and clear hoochie. Best if you run two medium pink beads down the leader first to "land in the hooch 's neck.  Then rig a tail or whole red dyed shrimp to the front hook. 15-20' depth should produce plenty if action on the columbia if you're in a good spot. Nearly 400K over Bonneville, so there's plenty for everybody's table. Good luck.

Only thing I'd change is mtnmuley's set up is the size of the dodger. I usually run an 8" dodger with a leader up to 14"'s. I've also used different color hoochies, but it's either pink, blue or purple

Anyone around the tri cities salmon fishing tomorrow? I have tomorrow off and would love to go. Never caught one before. Only been once and that was for spring chinook earlier this year.
