Just wondering how small bull would you take? I want to think I could hold off for a nice one but man ELK MEAT in the freezer is elk meat in the freezer.

I would hold out for what I know is in the area. When I had my archery quality tag I had three bulls on my cams that I had picked out. But when we got there for season I lost all the bulls I had on my cams and couldn't find where they went so I was ready to shoot anything that had good bone on his head.

For me it would depend on how long its been since I got an elk .fill the freezer if its been a while.

I would hold out for a good one! Do some scouting, set a goal. I have a quality bull tag this year and have high expectations. I have waited for 7 years for a tag and I intend to do it justice. I also have the multi tag so there isn't as much pressure. I would be happy with a westside bull, or a cow in ew in the late season. :twocents:

I took a 4x4 last year on a Toutle tag. It was the first bull I saw but we drew the Manson deer tag in the same time frame so we had to drop the first 2 bulls we found in order to get over to Manson and hunt. Two bulls and two bucks in 5 days hunting; no regrets. I'm holding out this year for a bigger bull as I'm due and I'm sure my partner is also.

I would say shoot what your happy with. Whether that's a 380 bull or a raghorn. I make that choice before the season ever starts. The area I'm hunting kind of determines my expectations.
