Title: ugh. no crabs
Post by: DoubleJ on July 05, 2014, 02:28:31 PM
Good news is the fish finder seemed to work good today.  Not sure wth is wrong with it.  Bad news is after a 4hr soak out of Union, 2 pots produced one 5" female and one 3" male.  Other boats were dumping what little they had in their pots over the side because they were all females too.

I heard this from a few people too. Lots of females. No legal males. Darn! Next time

I'll stick to red rocks.  Closer to home and a few limits every time

Used salmon and flounder carcase for bait.  Pots were 75-80' deep.  I was in an area with about 2 dozen other pots.  Don't have the ability, or trust, to let them soak overnight.  Water temp on the surface where my fish finder was said 62 degrees though.  I did think that was a bit warm

Fish straight across from Alderbrook.  Start your first pot in 40 feet of water and your last in 80.   :twocents:

we headed that way after dropping pots so we could spend some time at Towhano.  Didn't make it there.  We did see Alderbrook, with all of the "Rich people boats" as the kids put it

I have limited out every day so far.  Some days though it just takes a little more pot pulling :tung:
jmaster4880 and I this Friday in the picture and were did great today as well.  I also caught my first rock crab.  I thought they were only in rocky areas?  We were fishing in a very sandy area, any reason why a rock crab would be there?
