Title: First year going after a bear
Post by: deerhunter_98520 on July 24, 2014, 05:51:38 PM
I've always had a bear tag just in case I see one but never really hunted them....I decided I want to finally put some time in for one....while scouting for elk I have found a pretty ideal spot...at least I think so anyways....its a clearcut in a walk in area and its crammed full of berries....huckleberries, salmon berries, blue berries, blackberries.....for all of you experienced bear guys would you just sit and wait or would you try a distress call? I know there's a huge bear in the area his scat is about the size of a pop can and there's bear peels all over....I bet I've seen close to 100 peels within a mile of this area

I'd use a call to increase your odds. Sounds like a perfect spot.

That was my plan....I got a fox pro for Xmas last year and have been dying to try it out this year for bear...he's working a pretty big area but i m pretty sure he visits the berry patch quite often....every pile of scat has had berry seeds
