Title: Where to get a bear processed?
Post by: Bmcox86 on July 31, 2014, 09:09:24 PM
Going for a bear hunt in a few weeks and if I get luck I plan on packing it out straight to coolers and hopefully getting it processed into burgee/steaks/ sausage and maybe jerky pepporini. Anyone around king county that does a good job on bear? I used olsons for the pepporini a few years ago and they did a good job. Maybe them again?  What should I expect to pay?

Bucks, what did they do and what did it run you? Feel free to pm me if you want to.

Emac, I used fishers for my hog last year and they did horrible on it, so I don't think Ill go there again. Didn't seem like they cared about dealing with hunters

Stewarts meat is top notch and best price around  :twocents:

If you're wanting it all made into pepperoni (or sausage) be sure to bone it all out before you take it in to a meat market. It'll be a lot cheaper that way.

The only place I can recommend for pepperoni is Northwest Sausage and Deli, but it's in south Thurston County. Great pepperoni if you don't mind a bit of a drive. It's right off exit 88 just past the Great a wolf Lodge. They will only accept boned out meat.

You may have had good luck there but I will never recommend Stewarts for game processing. We had some issues with deer and elk years ago. Then I took two different bears there and they messed up both times.

When i took my bear there a couple years ago i had it completely de- boned and had it all made into pepperoni sticks. I thought it was really good and everybody that tried it said they would of never guessed it was bear.
