Title: Elk rubs
Post by: Old Man Yager on August 03, 2014, 09:29:37 AM
When do you think Elk and Deer start sheeding thier velvet? I saw a couple trees marked up, nothing major, but fresh. It was about 5-6 feet up on the tree, so I'm assuming it was an elk.

I had hard horned bulls on my cameras last year in mid august.

If there's deer and elk sign it could be either rubbing.   Five to six feet I'd say elk.  I found a rub line or two yesterday and they were fresh.  The wallow was unused though.  Figured it was hot enough.  But  :dunno:  maybe they'll wallow after the rut fires up. Some elk are probably hard horned.
