Just finished the WTC - Washington Tuna Classic, we were in 2nd place!- of course it helps when your like the 4th boat in...lol
But the other teams came in with slightly heavier fish and pushed us down the ladder! Oh well no prize money but I did win another Avet Reel!!!!! We got 8 or 9 the first day (pretty rough on Friday) and 25 the second day (a lot calmer for sure).. Started the day off right - 2 minutes in and we had a quad on, next go around - a triple and action continued til we had to stop, as that is the space and ice we had. None on bait - a I got three or four on Swim Bait.. Our big five fish weighed in at 118.94 lbs... The big fish in the derby was 31 or 33lbs!!! All of ours averaged around 24..... 45 miles off shore and the sun came out nicely... Good times for sure!!! Not too bad for doing the event without a veteran Albacore dude on board - I was probably the vet of our group with about 5 or 6 Albacore trips under the belt.... Cherries were popped for 2 rookies also.. Great time with some good guys! Now is time for fresh Tuna....

Looks like a fun time! I'm hoping to make it out on my first tuna run this summer. Been trying to get out for the last couple years but haven't made it happen.

My wife and I drove down and watched all the boats come in and the weigh in, was a good time had launch there made for a good day. Good to see you got into them no matter how much they weighed.

I was suppose to go out on Friday and Saturday but the captain just called and said the fish were to far off shore at 70-80 miles and cancelled the trip :dunno:
Hopefully we can get out this year.

Holy crap that is double where we were!!! I think we went 35-40 miles for blue water, at 215 degrees.. Was this a friend or an actual Tuna charter, if it was a charter then maybe you want to find a new charter captain to go with...

Nice going Cohoho! Looks like a great weekend. Fresh tuna is always good.

It was a charter out of Newport which usually get to them closer than Westport. Maybe this year is different. I'll have to go out of Westport I guess. I'm looking forward to going though.
