For those photographers out there that don't want to spend the bigger bucks for editing software, here's a tip:

Last time I down loaded a free editing software program I got a virus, I see these guys also want to track your cookies, I'm still looking for a good program but cant risk going through that again.

I use Adobe Lightroom 5.6 for my editing. I do however use Gimp and Picasa once in a while.

I have been using GIMP for years. No adware/spyware, but there is a steep learning curve. Once you get past that, it is pretty easy and powerful. I am sure there are many tutorials out there now. I began using it before YouTube became big.

I'm a grade A cheapskate but I'd gladly pay full price for Lightroom if I had to again. It's super easy to use once you get used to it and only gives up a few features to the far more expensive Photoshop CS6. Lightroom regularly goes on sale for $50-75 if you pay attention.

It depends on your skill level but CS6 and Lightroom are good options.
