Title: Archery Deer & Bear season overlap — Blaze orange needed?
Post by: Bow_mon on August 09, 2014, 09:02:00 AM
Hello.

I'm looking and scouting an area on the Wet side GMU for blacktails and I was talking to another hunting buddy of mine who hunts this area for fall black bear. The seasons overlap in this region, so my question is do I need to or should I wear some blaze if I'm out bowhunting deer in the area? It seems like a good idea to hopefully not get shot at my a bear hunter, but nothing that I've been able to read out says it's mandated.

Suggestions?

thanks.

You do not need blaze orange for either one so it is not required. It is only required if bear season overlaps with a modern firearm season since bear is a any weapon hunt.

Not required, but would be a good idea to have an orange vest in your pack. A human bent over gutting a deer can be hard to see in the brush and it would be a tragedy to be mistaken for a bear.
