Yeah BS, if it was out there, "everyone" wouldn't be asking the same question.

Sooner or later those who are buying it whenever and wherever they see it are going to realize that they might not really have a need for any more .22 ammo since they already have 50,000 rounds stored in the basement, "Just in case."  When those guys finally figure that out, then the rest of us will be able to go buy a box when we decide we would like to take the grandson out for the day of fun plinking.

The problem is that we have all been so scared of not being able to purchase any for so long, when it does show up in arms reach, we become the next guy to stock up. I have a bunch in the safe, and almost hate taking a brick out and shooting it up, cause I do not see the end yet in mass hoarding. Pretty sad taking that $9 brick of 500 out, shooting it up and replacing it with a new brick for how much?

What are you getting for a brick?

I read an email a month ago that broke the 22lr ammo shortage down. It used rough numbers of every 22 gun owner and only distribution from Walmart... 2 years worth of production for each  gun owner IF they only purchased 2 bricks.

Simple supply and demand. Once the super hardcore guys buy enough, then the opportunist hoarders, then the casual stock up, and then it's back to normal.

I have zero doubt that we'll have ten dollar bricks again.

O.K Then ...I think we need a supplier for HW ....I would sure think if you had enough supplies and fair prices that HW members would keep you in business :dunno: Whats the laws on sending live ammo ??

Sending live ammo is easy as pie!
I bought a couple cases of 22 lr from Hooked on toys and they sent it to Port Orchard for just UPS fees. It was cheap and hassle free!

for SHTF, I sure would not want to be the guy with a stockpile of 22LR...and have to go up against someone with bigger-badder-faster-longer....

JMHO

fyi, I have a ruger 10-22 for my kids to learn on...

Some of us have both.

Don't underestimate the value of having 22 ammo on hand to use for bartering when SHTF. ..

oh, definately not underestimating, I have both too.

But there is a harsh reality here....one the basicly says there will be a TON of ammo and barely used black rifles on the street available for scooping up after about the third week of a SHTF scenario.

Interesting, I was talking to a employee at the FW store today and he said they have not had any in 10+ days, your store must be getting their share too.

Ten dollar bricks of 500 22lr will never happen again.  Not with lead at over a dollar a pound and diesel fuel at almost $4 a gallon.

Yep, $.04 /round is about as good as we will see it for the near future..

People say: "When will it loosen up? (on 22 ammo).  I tell them: "It has, but everyone has been waiting a year or more to buy it, so when it comes available, it gets snapped up!"  :twocents:

Lead is at $1.02, pretty much where it's been for the past 5 years. It went to $1.20 in 2011, so it's actually cheaper now. I don't follow diesel prices, but I 'very seen it hovering around $4 for quite some time. I still believe it's all supply and demand. Higher gun sales, including a lot of .22's.

The 22 ammo is out there. The Cabelas in Lacy stocks it first thing, so get there at 8am on a Saturday and you shouldn't have too much trouble. I picked up 3 bricks from Welcher's in Tacoma a few weeks ago. They had about 20 bricks on the shelf and they would have let me buy them all. I just grabbed one for me and one each for two buddies who have been looking for a while.

I won't purchase from a place that limits the amount of ammo you can purchase.

I have 4 boxes of standard .22 ammo but try finding a box of CCI CB-Longs???!!!  :yike: I use them for backyard vermin removal without scaring the neighbors... Sold out everywhere but Canada it seems yet Canada has stacks of them on the shelf!  :bash:

My friend usually gets ammo every few days and it is typically gone within a few hours.  I finally asked one of the guys coming out that buys .22 every time it comes in, how much he has.  He said over a 100k rounds.  Must be worth more than stocks and gold investment wise?
