Can't figure out what pant would be best for the high hunt. I plan on getting kuiu. Not sure if I should get attack, guide, or yukon pants. I would also be using them general deer if the high hunt does not provide as well as modern elk. Anyone have any recommendations. Thanks!

I've got guide and attack. The attack is awesome from everything to hot weather or cool. The guide are very warm and good breath ability. But I wouldn't where them in September or early October. I say attack pants all the way.

My vote would be the attack pants. Been really happy with mine and a good choice for the high hunt.
-
How are they for durability? And for rain?
-
Durability is good, I'm on my fourth season with mine. They have a DWR treatment, but they are not waterproof. They do shed water pretty good, and dry fast, but not rain pants.

Are you guys wearing them by themselves or with a base layer?

Depends on temperature. On the high hunt, usually not, but, I've been snowed on several times on the high hunt. Mid thirties and below, I usually wear base layers.

I use the attack pants. Ive worn them on early desert hunts in the upper 90's to very cold mountain hunts below zero. I just get them a little big so I can add base layers as temps go down.
I run a little hot most of the time and think the guide pant is to warm for me on most hunts.

I have yet to run my base layers with them. In fact my bottom long johns got cut from my pack list until October 1...

I've been real happy with my attack pants. Worn them in two bear hunts in the last couple weeks with first lite merino boxers as the base layer. Both days the temps were in the 80's. Saturday We put in 13 miles on the mountain bikes on pretty dang hilly logging roads and I stayed very comfortable. I've also been loving my Kuiu Ultra Merino 145 Long sleeve!

During early archery season I run with the Tiburon pants and take a merino base layer to add underneath if it gets chilly. But the last few years have been pretty warm and the tiburon pants are awesome in the heat. Rifle season it's either the attack or Yukon pants for me.

Ordered the attack pants. Too bad they are back ordered. Thanks all for the advise.

Vortec - what size do you need? I've got attack and guide pants still in the plastic - size 32.
If the size works, I would let you "pay me back" with a pair when your order comes in. I bought boxes of it just so I had enough to test this fall. :chuckle:
My biggest beef with KUIU is inventory availability...
-
JJ- I am size 32 as well. Kuiu said they were going to get some by the end of August. But if they fall through I may hit you up. Where are you located?
-
Gig Harbor - offer is open.
I think that I will rock the Tiburon for the early archery - so I will keep at least one pair in the package until October.
