Title: Scouting Elk Today
Post by: sakoshooter on August 16, 2014, 10:25:09 PM
I accompanied a buddy to his area in the Bethel early today and ended it with a trip thru my area in the Nile. A few hikes & lots of glassing - we saw plenty of elk, a calf nursing, a cow w/twins, 2 bulls(in velvet), a few deer, a pine martin, a few grouse, red tailed hawks and turkey vultures.
The areas have had some rain by the lush green vegetation and the last two days they got lots of rain.
Also picked up some trash.
A very long day but very fun filled. I'm pumped for season to open - any bull tag and I've got my fingers X'd.

 nice, season is getting close. Are you hunting the same area you were in last year?

Yep. Putting the tent in the same spot and hoping for a tad less rain, LOL.
What about you?

Yeah I will be up there. Looks like they have some of the road down low repaired from the rain last September. Lots of elk running around up there.
