Lots of elk in that area.  They know their protected in the Mt. Spokane ski resort area.  They come down and hang out in the rural areas where most of it is no shooting zones.

I've seen quite a few near that area. I hunt WT around there but I have never seen any on public land. Usually private. I have tried to get permission to hunt some of it but with no success. The landowners like those elk to themselves. Can't blame them though...

Compared to Lincoln County maybe   :chuckle:

There was a guy last year who shot a big bull in the Greenbluff area but never found it.  Anyone remember that?

Didn't a landowner shoot a big elk a few years ago, from his deck, get into some hot water because he lived in a no shooting zone? If I remember, he was able to keep the elk but received a small fine.

yeah..the story I heard it he was parked just off the highway in his field and dumped a bull in his field at rush hour traffic, but I understood it was a shooting zone. There was a uproar over it from the elk lovers, but he kept it

My parents are building a house on 12 acres at Peone Prarie.  We're talking about that general vicinity, aren't we?  What are the chances of seeing any elk around there? :dunno:

Band,
If they have a view around the prairie, they will see elk in the winter and spring.  Have them keep bino's handy and look around in the mornings and evenings.  We see them all the time.

That is accurate.  He dumped it at first shooting light and then winched it up off the ground and skinned it right then and there.  It was classic.  It damn near stopped traffic, I think I was an hour late to work that morning  :chuckle:

Cool.  They're smack dab in the middle of the prairie with 360 degree views.  Their land essentially in a small wheat farm they will continue to lease with their house going in on the edge of the wheat field.  I've only been out to the place once and the treed hillside to the southeast of the prairie looks awfully gamey to me.
