Title: Ione for bear?
Post by: Tjajwilson on August 27, 2014, 08:30:15 AM
I just came back from Twisp with only a sighting on a few deer and very little bear sign. I have heard that Ione has carried a few bears. What's everyone's thoughts? Any suggested areas?

All around Ione you can find bears, Usk, Cusick, Sullivan Lake - it's all good.
The land between the Washington & Idaho state line up north is worth taking a look at IMHO.

I went over the road from Nordman to Ione a couple weeks ago. It really brushy over there, so you'd have to be quick.

ok so I looked on Google earth a few times now and I think I am going to hunt around Sullivan lake. my only concern is that there will be campers and such. I've never been up there before so is that a big destination for campers? I also have a friend who has a friend :chuckle: that floats the river and gets bear off of the apple orchards. any thoughts on that?

There are a ton of bears up this way.  Check higher elevations for huckleberry fields.  Abercrombie Mtn, Calispel pk, South and North Baldy.... all have plenty of bears if you find food.
