Title: 4 New Custom Knives - FOR SALE
Post by: rainshadow1 on August 27, 2014, 03:57:12 PM
Knife 1: Sold

Knife 2: pulled for donation

Knife 3:  Ats34 stainless, snakewood and white micarta, spaced with carbon. Polished hollow grind, left the rest as it came out of the furnace. Came out pretty cool that way! $150 (https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi234.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fee99%2Frainshadow1%2F82714f_zps65494008.jpg&hash=0f8814198d67ad0ff848f7f744ce9162d7ffc32f)

Knife 4: Last knife is kinda cool... I got that damascus billet from a local hobby knifemaker, he got it from his mentor knifesmith but I don't remember either of their names. The billet was forged from the barrel of a gatling type minigun off of an Air Force aircraft. I didn't want to cut it down and the hobbyist had done some grinding on it, so I just reground it into a kitchen or boning style piece. I heat treated it and built it with antiqued ivory micarta grips pinned with handmade musk ox pins and a mosaic pin. Acid treated and polished and it came out super! $200

I'll give you a deal on it since I don't know the exact mini gun it came from. Likely a Huey era door gun, but I can't be certain at all, so I can't just say which gun it was from, or if it saw combat. I know it's a gatling type gun from a US aircraft, that's fact, the rest is speculation.

$200?

Rock, paper, scissor?  :chuckle:

It looks much bigger than 8". I thought the blade was like 12"

Make a fist like you're gripping a knife, and set a 12" ruler on the thumb end of your fist... that's a long, awkward, unwieldy blade that isn't good for much but looking at! I have a hard time making myself build knives like that! Chef knives and bread knives are typically 8" blades.
