I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for an early season archery hunt for mulies. My buddie and I started 3 years ago and we finally were able to tag some does over by Winthrop. I would really like to get somewhere and get a chance at a nice buck. I have gotten a few with a rifle but it would be a thrill to put a nice mulie down with my bow.

I would think Winthrop would be good, from the reports I get from over there. For early season hunting, be it with a bow or muzzleloader, the most critical thing I think is scouting. That time of year, they deer aren't pressured and will often hang in the same spots, use more openings for longer periods of time, etc. The bucks I have killed the last two years have been within 150 yards from where I saw them in my scouting. My experience with different gmu's is limited, but I would recommend finding an area you like (terrain wise) and put in the time to find the deer. If you know winthrop, go with that. This may not have helped, but that is all I got.
