Does anybody hunt ducks with a falcon permit. :dunno:

It would be interesting.
I was hunting out on the coast and was watching two pintails up high and a hawk swooped down on them from even higher. Instead of trying to dive or evade the hawk they both just tucked there wings in and dropped out of the sky like rocks and hit the water in two big splashes like someone dropped a couple of bowling balls in the water. They came up a long way away under some overhanging brush and hung out there for quite awhile before leaving.
Another time I had a bunch of decoys set on the grass flats waiting for the tide to come in and heard what sounded like someone had hit one of the decoys with a baseball bat. I looked over and a hawk was just launching himself back in the air right next to a decoy. I would have loved to see the look on his face when he hit the decoy.

I believe the Washington Falconers Association does hunt ducks with raptors http://www.wafalconers.org/ (http://www.wafalconers.org/)

I know that you can hunt ducks, pheasants, rabbits, etc with hawks. But this topic is about if you hunt with hawks or do you know anybody else who does. :dunno:

There was s a member on here named "Sagehawker" I think. He is big into falconry. It would sure be fun to do but it is quite the commitment to become a falconer.

Have a neighbor who hunts upland and ducks with birds of prey. He is a Master Falconer and I met him one day when stopped to see if he needed help since he was off the side of the road in the snow. No help needed and he had a hawk on his gloved hand and was holding a duck's head and neck in the other. That bird was taking the duck head apart like a buzz saw. The duck never should have left the roadside ditch. :bash:
