Title: South America/Mexico Dove Advise
Post by: shorthair-on-point on September 08, 2014, 08:21:33 AM
I am looking into taking a dove hunting trip. I would like to know if anyone has done this and what recommendations you might have. Thanks

If you need someone who speaks Spanish to go with you I'm your guy.  I have been looking into Argentina for Doves/Waterfowl/Red Deer.  Looks like it will be pricey but worth it.

My dad did a trip to Argentina for doves a few years ago.  20  gauge and shoulder pad recommended.  The lodge he went with put a 'guide' with each shooter that was responsible for keeping the gun loaded.  Can't remember what some of the totals were, but I know they were in the triple digits.  If interested I can dig up more info.

A buddy of mine did Argentina a number of years ago and had a great trip. One of the takeaways I got from the conversation was to negotiate as many shells as possible into the trip cost, as opposed to buying more when you ran out. Also shooting gloves for smokin' hot barrels. :chuckle:
