hey guys brand new to the forum, i hunt the pearrygyn gmu near twisp (224) and was just curious if anyone knew what specific areas got burnt, i generally hunt the peterson ridge area (no idea if thats what its actually called just what ive heard it called my entire life) but any info would be appreciated as were starting to get close to modern deer season

You should be able to get a map online of the fire to see if your area was in it or not. I am not familiar with Peterson ridge so to speak so cant help you with that. If its low, its burnt. Just because its burnt...how bad it will be???? Lots of fresh green shoots that will attract deer this time of year. (not good for them when the snow is 3 feet deep and crusted) but for now, burnt areas may still hold deer just fine. Lots of spots timber was skipped, some is moonscape. Its going to be an interesting year.

migration will still come through. Not sure if you are used to hunting local deer or migratory....

Looked to me as though more of the unit is burned than not, including the area you are referring to, sorry.

thanks for the info guys, hopefully gonna take friday off from work and head up there for a weekend trip and scout around and see what the damage is and maybe if i'm lucky run into a nice bear.

I think most hunters not from that area are choosing to hunt other areas and let the locals harvest there deer for a winter supply of meat due to they are really hurting from the big fire. Lots of loss to all in that area and anything to help them out would help them allot.

Is Petterson Ridge off the Loop Loop hiway(sr20), on the Game Range?
-
I was up there last weekend and only seen a couple of bow hunters, but as Bone said I did notice that it's already starting to regrow in the burnt areas at least the grass' and such.

no.cen.wa thats exactly where im talking about
-
That got ripped pretty bad by the fire.
-
Lets try this again......
-
That is not GMU 224?
-
What do you mean Alchase?
-
It affected a lot of units. 224 Pearrygin on fire map is basically everything north of HWY 20 on map. A very sizeable portion all the way past Winthrop and a little beyond the lake.

thanks for all the input guys, after talking to the wdfw biologist in the area it sounds like theres still plenty of animals only big concern now is the spot where we actually camp might not be accessible but ill be leaving the seattle area at about 3 tomorrow morning to come take take a look for myself and hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

My bad, I saw Paridise Ridge in the middle of the fire map and "assumed" that was Peterson Ridge, the one the op was point for. Like Scout said, Pearygen is north of 20 🙈
Sorry for the confusion.
