Title: first bow kill
Post by: WhacknStack on September 21, 2014, 09:32:07 PM
Well I was planning on hunting the modern season this year until a few days ago I got a call saying I got a job in Texas starting on the 30th. So with very limited time I told myself I would shoot the first legal deer I had a shot at. This happened to be the very first deer I seen while hunting (bought my tag yesterday) and it was one of those rare moments when everything came together perfectly! She was in the wide open and I was able to get downwind of her and put the only small patch of sage brush between us. I was able to get to the edge of my only cover, came to full draw and watched my arrow find its way home. She was just over 25 yards. I seen I hit maybe a couple inches back but she was quartering slightly away, and she ran 40 yards, dropped and never moved again. The feeling I got after I realized I got my first archery deer was an amazing reminder as to why each and every one of us live for hunting. I finally accomplished my goal of taking a deer in all the seasons.  4 with a rifle,  1 with a muzzle loader,  and finally 1 with a bow. A hunt I'll never forget. Sorry for the long write up but I really enjoy reading the stories you all are kind enough to share.

Oh yeah, I was home in time for kick off! :IBCOOL:  GO HAWKS!
