Just curious of general areas everyone heads?
Phesant- As best I can tell the St. John area is the only real pheasant hunting within a reasonable driving distance. If one is willing to keep driving Moses Lake and Pullman area's are all options.
Grouse- Does anyone mess with the inland empire paper company land? There are many 1000's of acres available, and it's nearby, but i've never bit for a permit to hunt.
Quail- I know nothing.
Alternatively I have lots of family in the tri-cities and we make it down several times in the fall, and there are several release sites and public land near the rivers which ought to contain birds, but again I haven't done anything down there in particular.
I'm not asking for anyone's sweet spots, just curious where people have had some luck, I notice most folks are on the west side on the forum.

More feel free to hunt ground from 26 down to pomeroy/dayton than from 26 up to sprague.Finding farmers around and at home to get permission is like winning the lottery,I've found them tough to catch at home, seems as like they all head for Arizona or mexico about the time it freezes, the ones you do find at home rarely will sign a slip for the entire season, generally it's a one day pass or two days if a guy is lucky.IMO the closer one gets to the snake is better bird population wise. The northern area by ST John has been less than stellar for years now.Alot of that feel free to hunt ground just west of St John is actually a release area for pen raised chickens.

Sent my old man with my dog out to Fish Lake where you punched a bird down, but it managed to run off and get lost.
Today he is back in the Tri-cities scoping out the few release sites down there.

Grouse - I do hunt the Inland Empire Paper land, but the Colville National Forest, North of Spokane is a better option.
Quail, pheasant, Huns - Available in the Palouse, South of Spokane, but some door knocking and research are required on the WDFW site.
A trip to the Region One Office of WDFW in Spokane Valley is worth a trip as is a stop at the BLM Office off Fancher in Spokane.

My old man down in the tri cities was able to scare up 4 birds today, but had no shot on them...bad angles. At least there are birds down there!

I was just down at the BLM office on Monday and bought the map for Rosalia, there is lots of public land available, just have to burn the gas and check out what is available in person. My co-workers husband just retired from WDFW and has given me some pointers, but he spent most of his time chasing the endangered grouse (spruce?) and moose, but had helped in the Revere Project back in the 90's and early 2000's, which is a great piece of property.

oops my apologies. Is that a new hunt? I never realized there was such a thing until you said that.

I just read an article about it starting perhaps in 2011?
He flushed up 3 birds all at once yesterday, he nailed one, watched it bounce get up and sprint off, while my dog was staring at the other birds flying off...he wasn't quite mad, just annoyed.
:chuckle:
