Just wondering where I can go in Spokane to get a print out of Google Earth? ( the area we hunt )
So when my hunting partners and I are back at camp it will be easy to explain where we are going or where we where.
Thanks Nape

Cabelas used to have and may still have a map printing program that printed on tyvek. You may want to give them a call.

Thinks I will have to give them a call.

Just out of curiosity, did you have any luck with Cabela's. If so which Cabela's has it?
-
THe one at stateline had it a year ago.
-
Thanks Bone, sure would be nice if they had them at all their locations. I went to the Tulalip store a few days ago and they didnt have much as far as maps go.

For images of Google Earth I just do a print screen of the section I want and print it out at home. Sometimes I have saved them to a SD card and taken them to Walmart or Walgreens and printed them out on 8x10.
-
Thats what I have been doing but the printer I have definitely is not very high res. So image quality can be a little
difficult do deal with. I never though about printing at walgreens though...what a great idea.

Kinko's?
-
Are there any independent Kinko's left or are they now all FedEx Office?

Pretty sure they are all Fedex/kinko's. I havent seen an independent Kinko's on the wetside in many years.

You can also go to Staples and print out 8"x10" or 11"x17". If you wanted a large map they have a plotter too that would print the larger sizes (poster size).

Are these just satellite maps or will they have roads and prominent landmarks labeled?
Thanks.

I have been using Google Earth Sat. images as well as the Topo overlay. They dont have extreme detail but enough to be passable IMO. Especially if you can get 'em printed with a high res printer. I wasnt aware Staples had that ability either. Guess I need to get out more.

If I'm using GE I just build my map at home with whatever options, layers, or overlays that are available and then save it as a .jpg or .tiff. Roads and feature labels are dependent on map extent I think. Then I put that on a thumb drive and go into Staples and have it printed. Doing it this way will provide better results in printing than doing a screen capture like print screen. I don't use GE too much since I have ESRI'S GIS software and can do a ton more.
I think I miss read the OP. You can't go into Staples to use a computer but printing is what I was thinking.

Sorry for not checking back on this thread.
I didn't check with Cabelas.
I did save images to my thumb drive and plan on taking them some where to have them printed.
-
Well I went to Staples and had 6 of them made up card paper (thicker) and laminated around $6 each.
Should help a lot when at camp and trying to tell the guys where you are seeing game.

Did they give you any grief about copyrights since you were using Google's imagery?
I ask because it came up when I was trying to get an old picture of me as a baby of all things copied, I had to make sure there was no photographer's sticker or stamp on the back of the one I wanted copied.
They would not copy any if they had any identifying marks because of potential copyright violations...

The girl behind the counter seed she had to look to make sure that she could print Google.
After a minuet on here computer she seed that she could. ;)

If i were you i would cover the coordinates on the bottom of the picture.

Good to know, thanks!

I would have covered the coordinates but every one knows that place.
It's the mother of pumpkin patches come elk season. :o

I always had a lot of success with the maps on the WDFW site. lots of cool things you can do with the maps with boundaries, roads, etc. Check it out...
Good luck this Year!
