recently spent a couple weeks bow hunting elk sw of bumping lake between the twin sister's lakes and the pacific crest trail....one nite in our tent we hear a deep long howl that we swear was a wolf...heard coyotes before and this wasn't it....couple days later we see a guy jogging the pacific crest trail with a back pack and an antenna that sticks out about 6 feet up....wasnt able to talk to him to find out what he was up to...are they checking collared wolves or ? kinda strange why a guy would be jogging between white pass and chinook pass with a radio antenna on his back. what do you think ?

I suppose he could be tracking a number of things (wolverine, cougar, etc) but why not wolves too.

I doubt the two are related. Devises for tracking collars are usually not 6' in length. Most of them that I have seen are either three or seven element receivers.

Bigfoot?!?!?! :chuckle:

This was just in our local paper. The guy is documenting every part of the Crest Trail for the Halfmile's PCT app. It's a pretty cool information site that I've used. They are trying to get it down to a meter accuracy.
