Post by: bobcat on September 28, 2014, 08:43:13 PM: I've been hunting blacktails, didn't see any today, saw eight yesterday but all does as far as I could tell. Even if there had been a buck, I wouldn't have had a shot, as they were either running, or too far away.

The weird thing about that is this particular area has been notorious for bucks not rubbing thier velvet. The bigger deer are usually the ones that seem to not rub for some reason. Usually there's a deer or two per year shot during rifle season that will look similar. I cant figure out why they dont rub as there is a ton of sagebrush draws where these deer live that seem ideal for stripping velvet.

I can remember killing my first buck 19 years ago when i was 12. Thats good stuff right there. And yes, your brothers buck is a PIG!

Post by: buckman202 on October 02, 2014, 04:55:29 PM: Yes very slow opening weekend in the Palouse this year. Very few shots heard and only one buck(not legal) seen in the 4 days I was out. Hopefully late season picks up.
