Title: hunting small-tract/semi-rural
Post by: dwils233 on September 29, 2014, 05:39:24 PM
I was invited by my in-laws to hunt some of the many turkeys on their property this year, however the property is rather small  (5 acres). I do have a pretty good area to hunt that is towards the lake and therefore wouldn't be dangerous for the neighbors at all but I think going shotgun might be a little upsetting so close to their homes. I've been thinking about giving archery a try instead.

Do you agree that its too small/ close for a shotgun and would rightfully bother the neighbors? The in-laws don't seem to care but I wouldn't want to be a jerk when I don't have to be. Like I said above- safe shooting/backdrop is not the concern, mostly just noise. Spokane/ 9-mile/ Long Lake area

Thanks!

I would say use your bow if you already have one and avoid the headache. If not just go for it. One or two shots shouldnt bother anyone too badly

Go talk to the neighbors and let them know what you are going to do.  Don't "ask permission," just politely inform them.  See how that goes.

Having 5 acres myself I've shot a shot gun with no worries of the neighbors just know your background. As also stated doesn't hurt to make them aware either.

That area you mentioned should know all about hunting. I wouldn't apologize for hunting on your in-laws property.

Thanks for the replies, seems like most replies are right what I was thinking. Any luck I'll get my fall bird sometime real soon!
