^^^^^^Hahaha..."no elk"
Yes, you can hunt it and yes, there are elk. Lot's and lot's of elk. There are restrictions, of course. You can't step off a road or trail on the Spirit Lake Highway side until you get to the far end of Coldwater Lake. But if you go in from Norway Pass, you're good.

The monument area is closed for all hunting. There are signs even saying you have to stay on the trail, until you get past Minnie peak. The game department sends out a map before your hunt explaining the restrictions and boundaries of the monument.

I'm sorry but you are totally giving out misleading information about the unit and it's restrictions. You can not hunt anywhere close to coldwater lake until you get past Minnie peak. Which is about a mile or mile and a half past the end of the lake. Once you are past Minnie peak, as you are heading up the trail the left hand side of the trail is open and the right hand side is a different unit.

I apologize if I misled anyone, CNElk. Your directions are more detailed than mine. I figured he would look at a map and see the boundary by Minnie Peak beyond the far side of Coldwater Lake.

Great tag. My hunting group has been trying to get that for about 6 years now. Hope you got your Weyco Permit!

All I am getting at is do your research before hunting in a unit you have never hunted before. If you ever have any doubts about any information you may be hearing than call the U.S. forest service and the game department and they are more than willing to give you the information you need. When I had the tag last year they didn't send me a map until a week before my hunt.

Hi

:yeah: my wife drew a cow tag and she didn't get anything other than a permit. :dunno:
