Title: Shoulder mount- options
Post by: olystorageland on October 08, 2014, 02:15:42 PM
Hey I got my first elk!!! I want to have it mounted but couldn't back cape out.. I got it Sunday (pack out was 7 1/2 hours so I cut behind ears so have head)...the place i have taken my deer wants $650 and $150 for the cap...no idea where this falls in price but wondering if there are any better options cause I can't afford the $800

I am thinking that is a pretty good deal.  I think my last deer was $650 and I had the cape.  Elk are bigger and you need a cape, I am thinking that is in the ballpark and probably a good deal depending on what type of work the taxi does.  If cost is an issue Euro mounts always look nice with elk.  They are so big just the skull and antlers take up a bunch of room.

I think typically elk shoulder mounts are $1000+. Seems like a good deal to me.

That already seems too cheap to me, I certainly wouldn't try and find cheaper. Does the guy you're talking about happen to be in Shelton?

Sounds pretty cheap to me, if your are looking for cheaper i would be very careful. Most elk shoulder mounts are about 800 and up with your cape, shop around, most wont even have it done for awhile so some money down and payments every month there after till it is done would be the way to go
Next thing we will hear in a year is a thread from you complaining about how awful your mount looks  :chuckle:

Euros are really neat (most of mine are euros, after having some head mounts done that did not turn out how i wanted them). Nice thing about a euro is you can have it made into a shoulder mount down the road after saving up some money...  :twocents:

Pay the 50% up front and then save like heck, ask for money for Christmas instead of toys, throw the cell in the garbage for a year.  Drink one less coffee a day.   Quit smoking.  SAVE SAVE SAVE :)

Last one I had done was $1000 but it came out perfect. Could of had it done cheaper but I didn't want any screw ups. Which has happened before. So your getting a pretty good price
