Title: Profanity pack howling video
Post by: NOCK NOCK on October 12, 2014, 09:47:33 AM
Heard the pack howling while moose hunting. But never got to see them, figured we were a couple hundred yards away from them. They really get going after the 1:30 mark. My howling attempt didn't seem to scare them  :chuckle:
I am not a fan of wolves but it was cool to here them (my 1st time)

Wow!

I am the same way.  Wish they weren't in there but it's cool to hear them at the same time

Thanks for sharing

Sounds like ya upset them with your howls a little.  I look forward to hunting wolves in WA.  Seriously looking in to Idaho wolf tags this year.  Nothing beats predator calling for me!  Thanks for sharing

How many wolves does WDFW say are in that pack?  Sure sounded like more than a couple to me.

Unless you've ever witnessed it, you be surprised at how few coyotes or wolves it takes to make that racket..........

We were over in GMU 109 this past weekend and on Friday night I got woke up to what I thought was coyotes. It sounded very similar to your video and only lasted about 30 seconds with only a couple animals doing the howling and carrying on. On Sunday when we left we stopped and chatted with a fellow and he told us that a guy that was camped down the road from us came out of his camper on Saturday morning and had a grey wolf sitting there watching him. Now you have me wondering.

There is NO mistaking the barks/howls of wolf to coyote.   The howls in this video are 100% wolf.

I went up South Fork St. Peters Creek ( Malo ) unit 101, today and ran into some hunters that heard the wolves to the west of the Profanity Pack area. One hunter said there was wolf tracks all over the ridge too.

Sorry typo. My old map book has the GMU labeled as Three Forks, but we were in 111.

Did you see any moose or much sign or have the wolves begun to decimate the population yet?
