Title: not enough snow!!!
Post by: shorthair-on-point on December 13, 2008, 04:37:29 PM
There was not enough snow around Moses Lake today to make the hunting good. The wind didn't start until after noon also which made this mornings hunt difficult. The birds were super jumpy even when I was in stealth mode. There wasn't enough snow to force the birds into the thick cover or keep them from running in the sage and CRP. I only was able to hunt for about an hour once the wind started but it helped me get close to a couple of birds.

I walked out to get my trail camera out of the creek bottom behind my house at around 1 today, and
the pheasants and quail were holding real tight.  About 15 pheasants jumped up 5 feet from me, and the quail stayed in the brush until you walked underneath them.  I guess I should have taken my shotgun.

Yeah, we have 6 or so inches of snow, and it was blowing 25-30 mph all day.
