Title: Thank god for snow...
Post by: WDFW Hates ME!!! on December 14, 2008, 05:45:06 PM
I had a dental appt. yesterday so no huntign for me. But my brother in law was up in the hills with one of the old guys. They ran around all day and at the end of the day my brother in law put a slug into a bull, he followed it untill he had no light. He marked where he lost sight in the reprod and came home. To recruit some help.

So this morn we get bck on the trail to where he marked it last night and we were right back on blood this morn, we followed track and blood for 3/4 of a mile, through reprod, into a clearcut, down into a creek, across a creek into some big timber where we lost tracks. We serched for 5 minutes and we saw an elk bedded down, but his head was up looking at us, it was a bull... We found him still alive, and finished out hunting season. It was a decent pack out. I took a quarter, another took a quarter, and the Manimal took out the front half. This is the only pic i have from my camera phone, it was a little dark in the big timber.
I was so happy we found him and he was still alive when we got to him. The bull went over a mile on 1 lung, and he ws not pushed hard. We figure he bedded down and couldn't get back up.

The manimal in the picture... It is not the first time he has done that. He would rather take one trip with both front shoulders than 2 trips.

Now that is funny. Joevon he grows the hair for "Locks of love". And it is actually all pulled under his hat, i wish he had a mullet then i could laugh at him for it... But with his hat on backwards it does look like a mullet.
