Just moved out here to the Coast last month. Seeing if anyone is catching anything on the Humptulips? What would you recommened? Looks like a pretty deep river in some spots especially by the boat launch!
-
Lots of fish and lots of people. There will be fish in when it drops into shape. Do you know much about salmon fishing?
-
Big Kings like deep holes and like eggs. Silvers like all kinds of water and like spinners and plugs.
There are a ton of fish in that river, and a ton of folks. Fish it below 2000 CFS for best results.

What about the Public Fishing area by the bridge off the highway coming/going from Ocean Shores?
-
that's not really much of a fishing area if you're bank bound. it's just a boat launch in a slack water side channel of the river.
stock up on some #4 and #5 spinners, buy some mini hootchy squid skirts and put them on the hooks. spend some time up at the hatchery...toss it out in the hole, let it sink a bit and then a slow retrieve. simplest way to get into some fish on that river. you won't get them every day, but keep at it and you'll get something before long.
when i lived in hoquiam, i used to buzz up to the hatchery a lot before work right after we go back to daylight savings time(gave me a couple hours a morning to fish). really miss being able to do that.

Where is the Hatchery at?? Also when does that river close do you know?
THANK YOU!

hatchery is just outside of the town of humptulips, on kirkpatrick road. you can park in the parking lot and walk down the trail to the mouth of the creek where most of the fishing goes on. it can get crowded on the weekends.
i haven't checked the regs as i haven't been out there this year, but it's open for salmon until at least the end of january, i think you have to release kings after this month though.
