Title: Help with open/peep sights.
Post by: Pete112288 on October 21, 2014, 08:48:48 PM
So I have not worked with anything besides a scope in a while till I picked up muzzleloader hunting over the last 2 years. And on top of that I think I am dislecsic (I know thats not spelt right haha). I always forget, do I need to move the rear sight up or down if I am hitting low and need to bring my group up? I am pretty sure I need to move the rear sight up if I remember right. My rear peep is slid all the way up the ramp and even hangs off a hair and I am still shooting lower then where I want to be. I also want to get a new front sight for next year with a smaller diameter fiber optic. If I were to get a different front sight I would like to get one that helps adjust so I dont need the rear sight so high. Would the front sight then need to be shorter or taller? Anyone know of a good aftermarket front sight that would fit the bill for changing the height and having a smaller dot?

Move the rear sight the direction you want the point of impact to move. If you want point of impact Higher. Move the sight higher. Impact left. Move sight left. Etc.

If you replace the front sight and want to move your point of impact up, get a shorter sight.

Rear sight always moves direction you want impact to move.
Front sight always moves opposite direction you want impact to move.

As for brand of peeps check out WILLIAMS. You may also have to shim the rear base for added height if you run out of adjustment? Or add cheek pad to but of smokepole to raise your eye or lower? :dunno:
