Title: GMUs 149, 154, 162, 166
Post by: jefjad1 on October 22, 2014, 09:27:25 AM
All, I was drawn for a whitetail buck hunt Nov24-Dec 8 in GMUs 149, 154, 162, and 166.  I am not real familiar with this area.  I am hoping to camp somewhere and to be able to hunt in the vicinity of camp.  I am looking for some ideas and advice.  Thanks.

I assume you are on a ML permit?

Well the best advice I have at this point is that most of 162 will likely be out of reach due to weather. As far as the rest goes, get on "Go-Hunt" look for ffth or maybe cruise over and start knocking on doors. That may be a tough road to. There have been lots of landowners doors knocked recently.

Good luck. That is a great permit.

I was in 154 this weekend with my daughter on second deer doe tags.  Rut is going pretty hard and we saw a couple of nice whitey bucks, one was on private and one was on FFTH land.  Not sure if they will make it through the current buck rifle permit hunt but good luck they are out there and already made it through the general season.

For camping I would head up the Tucannon River.  149 and 154 are almost entirely private.
