Borrowed this muzzleloader from my dad so I could start messing with it with the anticipation of possibly trying muzzy elk next year. Now, this gun has less than 10 rounds thru it (he never hunted with it), but the bolt has some serious rust (guessing it never got cleaned either). I am a complete newbie when it comes to muzzleloaders, so I was trying to figure out what parts I should replace. I am going to order a new breech plug and nipple. The website I found lists a "nipple for musket caps" and then just a "nipple". Which one do I want?
Second, what should I do about the bolt? (See pics below). Can I just clean it up or should I look for a replacement?
Lastly, when I look down the barrel I can see stuff on the inside of the barrel. I'm hoping it is just powder residue, but I'm ultimately afraid that it is rust too. What is a good cleaner to use? If it is rust, is the barrel toast or can I get it clean and still have a good shooter?
Thanks in advance.

Got any idea what powder was previously shot thru ur ml? Black powder or substitute? Black powders are very corrosive, I've seen more than one ml ruined because they were not cleaned after use, personally I recommend substitutes(777) If the bore looks like the bolt it can't be good I would start with a cleaning brush (bronze) but I would not use oil base cleaners??? I'm in T-town and could look at it if u would like, have two 700 ml kinda quirky but good if u take care of them.
