Title: Elusive elk
Post by: wall of wood camp on October 30, 2014, 04:16:03 PM: Been hunting the manastash and haven't been able to find a cow to save my butt. I don't know where they have gone I saw two elk last night and of course they were both two points going back up Friday night we will see what happens

I do think with all the land getting locked up on the west side it has put a lot of pressure on the elk that were once there. That being said, there are a few elk in there running around, good luck :tup:

Trust me it's not from lack of effort I put ten miles of boot leather to the ground just this morning the only method I haven't tried is road hunting maybe that's what I'm doing wrong. I've hunted the same area for 22 years now and have faired pretty well with 16 elk killed over that time but it has seemed to have gotten worse the last few years

Post by: gunrinwa on October 31, 2014, 02:55:17 PM: I spent the last 7 days up there in the Pumpkin patch, Jeep and four wheeler jamboree. Saw 40 animals, got within 20ft of 2 cows yesterday in the rain. Weather was nasty for all but 2 days. Visibility, in fog was at times 40 yards. No elk for our camp. Not sure about the Little Naches cow tag the one guy had. I haven't received a text yet. The wettest elk season I can remember. I got soaked.

Oh and Pretty Cool Huh's camp moved. I guess they finally had enough of the wind. Which ironically was coming in from the SE for most of the week.

More road closures are need IMHO.Road hunting was at an all time high.
