I got to see me first cougar in the wild this fall. I was rafting down the upper Wenatchee River, when I came around a bend and there was a cougar standing on the bank looking across the river. He didn't even notice me. Then to my surprise he started swimming across the river. He didn't notice me until he was about half way across the river due to my squeaky ores. I apologize the video is shaky due to me floating on the river and then I go through some rapids and it gets really shaky.

:yeah:

Pretty cool  That looks like the part of the river, when your just down stream of the bridge. If so the cougar basically just came out of the little community area. My brother has a rec lot right there.

Guess that answers if cougars mind water :dunno: :chuckle:

How was that float? Ive always thought about doing it. I'm currently living in AK but have plans to move back down. I've got a 16' cat that I love to use to float and access areas. Much area along the river thats not populated? are there many stretches that are below a class 3? Much wildlife on your floats?
thanks

The float was amazing. The boat that we use is probably about a 10ft blow up pontoon boat. There are some remote places on the upper river but not much. And the access to those places are difficult. There are several parts of the river that are a class 3 and below. Surprisingly there has not been to much wildlife, which I can't complain, because seeing one cougar makes up for seeing dozens of deer and what not.

I wasn't out hunting when I saw it. I didn't have a rifle on me.
