With the last two years of hunting getting rained on by work, I decided to take the entire three weeks of general season off this year. This was going to be the season for getting the tag soup monkey off my back. Just as everything was getting lined up...Mr. Murphy came knocking on and the engine in my truck decided to implode a week prior to season. Unfortunately I wasn't able to start fixing it prior to the start of deer hunting because of work and school obligations. Ended up spending the first two weeks of season rebuilding it with visions of bucks running through my dreams. Thankfully the machine shop did a quick turn around and we were able to make it out the last week of the season. With only 4 days to hunt we were not going to be selective, thankfully we didn't need to be. I was able to get a 2x3 on the second day of hunting. Not the largest rack in the woods, but an old buck and we got to watch him chasing does prior to his demise. My partner was able to get a nice 4x4 with eye guards on the third day. Both mature deer with great body size that filled our freezers well.
